Louis Myers has been out since May with a serious knee injury, but has recently made his return to Jon Macken’s side netting against both Clitheroe and Newcastle Town from the bench.

The forward had been counting down the days before he could be back on the pitch for The Boro and is happy to help the team in any way possible going into the business end of the season.

“It’s great to be back! I mean it’s been a long time coming to be fair. I’m happy to be back in the squad and most importantly scoring a few goals.”
He said “Even when I was injured I was in and around the boys, I never let myself go quiet. (Settling in) wasn’t too bad to be honest. I’ve been going to matches home and away but I was itching to be back on the pitch"

Myers is looking to break back into the starting 11 as the season goes on. Since his return against Clitheroe he has managed to bag two goals. The forward believes that netting for The Boro will start to build confidence in himself and the team.

“It’s just a massive confidence boost, I’ve been out since May and to come back and score 2 goals in 3 appearances feels good for me.
He said, “Importance of goals isn’t just for self-confidence either, it makes the manager, the fans and the team believe in me too.”

Since last season Jon Macken has made a lot of changes to the Radcliffe side that finished 18th. Despite the change in personnel, Myers is enjoying every second back on the pitch and is hoping it will become a regular occurrence.

“I’m loving every minute of it! Even out of football the boys are class. We know when we can enjoy ourselves but we also know when it’s time to knuckle down and get the job done.
He then said “I think this season we’ve recruited some unbelievable players that I think have improved our team massively. We’ve got characters and big personalities this year where as last year some of the boys were hiding.”

The Striker also outlined the importance of having a mixture of youth and experience in the squad as they eye up silverware for the season. The Boro currently sit top of the Evo-Stik West Table with a game in hand over their rivals.

“We’ve got a few older lads this year that have been around and know what it’s like and know what it takes to be a league winning side like Ben Wharton and Scott Metcalfe. Players need to learn off people like that to better themselves and also as a team.”

The Boro have put themselves into a fantastic position to challenge for both the league and the Manchester Cup and Myers believes that his side have a huge chance of bringing both home.

“We want to win the cup and the league of course, we’re going the right way about it. We just need to keep focused and keep playing the way we are. There’s a buzz about the place and we just can’t get enough of it.”

Boro fans will certainly be hoping there is a buzz in the air come May and Louis hopes he will be at the centre of it.
