Radcliffe manager Jon Macken has announced Tuesday night’s match against Kendal Town as the “biggest game of the season”.

Second-placed Boro crucially beat top of the table Atherton Collieries 1-0 on Saturday to go a point behind the league leaders.

Despite a three-day turnaround between both games, the Blues’ boss isn’t doubting his side to repeat the level of performance shown last Saturday against the Colls.

“It was a great performance on Saturday,” Macken told RadcliffeTV. “Another great three points, obviously it was a tough place to go – a top of the table clash. It was always going to be difficult, irrespective of where we were in the league standings – as we are two good teams.

“Tuesday is a massive game against Kendal (Town). It is probably our biggest game of the season, purposely because obviously you need to follow a win - especially at home - with another good performance.

“Once again, we will do our homework on them (Kendal Town). We will have a game plan and we need to stick to that game plan. We expect the lads are in the starting 11 or starting 16 as I’d call it to perform and I have got no doubts that we will.”

Tunde Owolabi was the match-winner against Atherton as he came off the bench to steal all three points at the Skuna Stadium last weekend.

Macken credited the Belgian forward as impactful, and addressed the togetherness in the squad as something unforgettable for years to come.

He added: “Tunde (Owolabi) is an impact player. He can impact a game, whether he starts a game in the 11, or whether he comes off the bench and that is what we need. That’s why you build a squad for certain games and situations.

“(On spirit) I’ve never known spirit like it. It’s fantastic. It’s just belief. What we have been trying to build is something where you are a team, an environment where you will remember it for the rest of you life. People will hopefully talk about the spirit of Radcliffe.

“They will talk about the spirit of the team in 2019 and that’s what we are trying to build here. It’s what I said from day one. It’s what we’ve all tried to produce – this kind of environment and team spirit, the bonding, and just building friendships.”
