Luke Joyce signs for Radcliffe.

The experienced midfielder puts pen-to-paper at the Neuven Stadium.

Radcliffe FC are delighted to announce the addition of midfielder, Luke Joyce to the club. The 34-year-old adds a plethora of experience to the side, having featured in over 550 games in his senior career, including over 400 EFL outings for three different teams.

Luke joins us from National League North outfit, AFC Flyde, who finished 3rd in the table, however missed out on promotion after being pipped to the post by Boston United in their play-off semi-final tie. He made 34 appearances for the Coasters before leaving upon the expiry of his contract at the end of last season.

The former Bolton Wanderers youngster brings with him a Lion’s share of experience, having featured for the likes of Barrow, Accrington Stanley, Port Vale and on two separate occasions, Carlisle United. In the 2019/20 season, Luke played a substantial part in Port Vale’s FA Cup success, beating MK Dons and Cheltenham away from home to set up a mouth-watering tie against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Port Vale were ultimately knocked out by Pep Guardiola’s side, nonetheless, Luke started the game and played the full 90 minutes in a determined performance given the star-studded opposition.

Joycey is sure to fit in perfectly at the Neuven Stadium for Bobby Grant’s side, having previously played with Bobby at Accrington Stanley. They are no stranger to each others abilities, and Luke was quick to mention this in his first interview at the club, quoting - “Bobby was definitely one of the main reasons why i’ve come here because I’ve had a relationship with him for years, we played together a long time ago at Accrington Stanley so we have a good understanding of each other.”

Radcliffe manager, Bobby Grant, explained that he was pleased to add him to the side, quoting - “He’ll fit in great, in the dressing room, around the club, which is why I identified him as someone I wanted to bring here, but more importantly the quality he’ll bring on the pitch. Hopefully the fans will be delighted to see him put the shirt on.”
