January's Player Of The Month talks to Adam Harrison about the rest of the season, team spirit and enjoying his football.

We know that every game left is a cup final for us and we’re going to go into every game wanting to win and prepared right so we’ve got a good chance of doing that!

January Player of the Month Matty Crothers believes that every game from now until the end of the season is like a “Cup final”.

The Boro currently sit third after a tough January which seen them win just two of their five games.

No result was tougher to take than Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Prescot Cables. Jon Macken’s side very nearly had all three points but for a controversial late penalty to the home side.

Crothers believes that performances like that will help them bounce back to top form.

“It’s been a tough month for us, I thought the boys dug in Saturday and managed the game well then a decision in the 94th minute kills us. I know we will bounce back and we’re hoping to do that Saturday!”

Well that's “Weather permitting” the midfielder joked.

Crothers sees every game from now up until the end of the season as a must win as The Boro aim for the title.

“We know that every game left is a cup final for us and we’re going to go into every game wanting to win and prepared right so we’ve got a good chance of doing that!”

The midfielder reckons the squad Jon Macken has assembled this season is more than ready for the step up next year.

“With the squad we’ve got we’re capable of winning this league and there’s still plenty of games to play.

He said “Promotion has to be our main target, we’re gunna do everything we can to achieve that as a team!”

For many players the chance to play for Ex-professionals like Jon Macken and Frank Sinclair is a no brainer.

It was a similar decision for Crothers, he is relishing the chance to work with the pair plus the great staff at the Boro.

“The staff have helped me a lot since joining and I’m grateful for the opportunity they give me and hopefully paying them back with performances on the pitch!”

Crothers is enjoying his football and the banter in the dressing room

Crothers has certainly started paying back his gaffer on the pitch bagging two goals and seven assists this campaign.

He is happy to help his side out in any way he can on a match day.

“It’s always nice to get a goal as long as we’re winning I’d happily set up a goal than score myself!"

The attacking midfielder has really enjoyed his time at the Boro since joining.

“It’s class here I’m enjoying my football again and playing with a smile on my face. We have a great bond in the team and the banter is always flowing that’s what it’s all about.”

Crothers can’t wait to get back to winning ways, starting with a big result against Kendal on Saturday.

“It’s really important that we get the result we want Saturday and that’s 3 points. Hopefully teams around us slip up but we just have to take game by game and focusing on getting 3 points.”

"Its good to win player of the month, think its the first time I've won wherever I've been and I'm grateful for that"
