Radcliffe FC are delighted to confirm the signing of 26-year-old goalkeeper, Mateusz Hewelt. He joins with a wealth of experience from higher in the football pyramid, joining from League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers following the expiration of his contract where he featured on 14 occasions.

The towering goalkeeper, standing at 6’3, started his footballing journey with Everton, where he would feature on numerous occasions for their Under 23s. He was almost an ever-present in David Unsworth's Under-23s side that were crowned Premier League 2 champions in 2016/17, while also being named on the first-team bench on a handful of occasions in the absence of either Maarten Stekelenburg or Joel Robles.

He then moved onto Miedź Legnica, where he would grab a last gasp equaliser against Chrobry Głogów in a 2-2 affair. Alongside his wealth of experiences higher in the pyramid, he has previously featured in the Northern Premier League - having fared for Bamber Bridge and most recently, Stafford Rangers.

Upon signing for Radcliffe, Mateusz explained his happiness to sign for the club in his first interview.

Hewelt, said: “I’m buzzing, very happy to be here and i’m looking forward getting going. The club is very ambitious and the gaffers have shown me what the plans are and how high we want to go.

Hopefully I can bring with me some experience, the obvious goalkeeper traits like good kicking and keeping the ball out of the net. I know the league from previous loan spells and I understand what it takes to be up there and competing every week, i’m looking forward to getting another taste of it here at Radcliffe.”

Welcome to the Neuven Stadium, Mateusz!
