Radcliffe Striker Tunde Owolabi has stated the target for the club is to win the Evo-Stik West Division title, come the end of the season.

Boro fell behind top-spot by nine points just weeks ago, but results elsewhere in the division helped Jon Macken’s side slash the deficit to four points.

The 22-goal striker spoke ahead of the top three showdown against Runcorn Linnets on Saturday, and said Boro feel rejuvenated from the management and new arrivals at the club.

“I think we can win it (the league). 100%,” claimed Owolabi. “We are in a great position. I think few weeks ago, we were quite far behind Atherton after losing at home to Leek. We were really disappointed because we knew coming back from nine points would be difficult.

“The coaching staff have always done a great job in preparing us the right way and that has helped us to start winning games again and go on another winning streak. Then we signed couple of players to really give us that extra energy/life to really go for it and try to claw our way back.

“In football, couple of wins and couple of drop points from your rivals can change the complexion of things. That’s exactly what has happened. We all know the target now, and that is to bring the league trophy to Radcliffe.”

The Boro face The Linnets on Saturday at the Neuven Stadium, before travelling to top of the table Atherton Collieries a week later.

But the Belgian forward admits the team are motivated for the challenge ahead, and all the focus is on facing the third-placed outfit at the weekend.

He said: “The feeling among the lads is just pure excitement. We are all up for it. This is a massive opportunity for us to be part of something great and we don’t want to have any regrets. The first step is Saturday against Runcorn.

“We have gone into training Tuesday and Thursday looking forward to it, working hard and working on a game plan the coaching staff want us to execute on Saturday. We know it’s going to be a big game, a tough game.

“We have a good balance of strong physical players and technical players. We are capable of winning, we are targeting the 3 points and of course we are taking each game as it comes.”
