Radcliffe FC are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Willem Tomlinson, subject to FA approval. The 25-year-old joins the club following his departure from National League North outfit Chorley, with pedigree of playing at a higher level, having featured in the Championship, League One and League Two previously in his career.

Described as a box-to-box midfielder, Willem began in the youth ranks at Blackburn Rovers after signing for the club in 2009 at the age of 10, eventually making his senior debut for the one-time Premier League Champions in the fifth round of the FA Cup against Manchester United, coming on as a second-half substitute to fare against the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford.

Burnley born, Tomlinson achieved promotion to the Championship with the Rovers in the 2017-18 campaign, making a number of appearances in England’s second division before joining Mansfield Town.

After spending a season with the Nottinghamshire club, a three-year spell at Chorley followed, which included a recent three-month loan at Marine, scoring in 10% of his matches in the National League North before arriving in Greater Manchester to sign for Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s side.
