The Magnificent Seven

Tunde Owolabi bagged a hat-trick as Radcliffe netted seven against a ten man Clitheroe on a rainy afternoon at Shawbridge.

The goals were coming from all angles as Tunde Owolabi (3), Callum Grogan, Matt Crothers, Elliot Rokka and Louis Myers were all on the scoresheet.

The Boro still sit second with two games in hand on the teams around them.

It took just four minutes for the Boro to fin the back of the net. Matt Crothers perfectly weighted a pass to Tunde Owolabi who rounded the Cameron Terry in goal with ease a stroked it into an empty net.

The home side looked to get back into the game just 10 minutes later as Andreas Bianga unleashed a powerful shot which flew over Ollie Martin’s goal.

Jon Macken's side continued to look for a second. Ben Wharton wasted a glorious chance as his side footed effort flew over the bar.

Just moments later Owolabi grabbed his and the Boro’s second. Crothers played another brilliant ball this time to the front post which was met by the winger who powered home.

Owolabi completed his hat-trick with just 29 minutes on the clock. He curled an effort home after some great footwork from Elliot Rokka on the edge of the box.

Despite being three down, Clitheroe still looked to get their names on the score sheet. Jacob Gregory’s strike looked goal bound but it didn’t trouble Martin in the Boro goal.

Callum Grogan joined in on the act on 43 minutes. He was in the right place at the right time after Rokka’s sliced shot found his boot. That makes it four in six games for the centre back.

The home side very nearly found their goal after the break. Bianga’s effort this time hitting the post.

Scott Metcalfe very nearly joined in on the act with his first Boro goal but his goal bound free-kick was pushed away by the Terry in goal.

After several minutes of pressure Macken’s side did finally have their fifth goal. Crothers this time finding the back of the net with a powerful effort which flew into the bottom corner.

Rokka finally got his goal on 82 minutes after a great flick on saw him in on goal. He side footed past an on running Terry to make it six. And score his 40th goal for the club.

Late in the game substitute James Salone was sent off after raising his hands to Boro captain Rick Smith.

The magnificent seven was completed by the returning Louis Myers. He was first to meet Matty Williams cross to round off a brilliant away win for the Boro.

The Boro now face Widnes back at the Neuven for a chance to move to the top of the table at Christmas.
