Rokka's rocket wins the Boro a valuable three points on the road.

A late Elliot Rokka rocket was enough for Radcliffe FC to claim all three points against Mickleover Sports in a 1-0 win in difficult conditions.

Rokka hit a thunderous shot in the 86th minute to give the Boro a deserved lead after plenty chances had gone begging.

Macken’s men now sit 8th on 23points with three games in hand on those around them.

It was a lively start to the game with both sides looking for the opening goal. Liam Ellis and Prince Haywood combined well on the right in the early stages but they couldn’t find a way past Mohammed Otoyo in the Mickleover goal.

Tyrese Sinclair saw his header loop over the bar on 14 minutes shortly after he then saw a rocket of a shot fire over the bar.

On 25 minutes Mickleover had a great opportunity to take the lead. Stuart Beavon saw his shot smartly collected by Ollie Martin in the Boro goal.

With five minutes left in the first half Tom Brown thought he had opened the scoring but for a great low save from Otoyo.

Shortly after the break Mason Warren saw his header go narrowly wide of the goal.

The Boro continued to press as the half went on. Sinclair again danced his way into the box and played a dangerous ball into the penalty area but noon could get on the end of it.

Substitute Matthew Wolfenden had a chance to give the Boro the lead but he was tackled brilliantly at the vital moment.

Another substitute Sam Billington made his way into the box with some fancy footwork his cross found Sinclair but his header flew over the bar.

Wolfenden tried to dink Otoyo in the Mickleover goal after a great ball forward but it was agonisingly wide of the goal.

AS the game went on the Boro were on top but they couldn’t find that all important goal.

On 86 minutes the deadlock was finally broken. Elliot Rokka listened to the cries of the crowd and unleashed a bullet of a shot which flew straight past the goalkeeper to give Macken’s men a deserved lead.

The Boro hung on in the final stages despite an onslaught of Mickleover attacks to claim a `valuable three points which send the blues up to eighth.
